Team Wayne Tops £12K!

Over £750 was raised during the Team Wayne ‘Olympic Torch’ campaign, taking the Team Wayne Grand Total to over £12,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research! Damien stood outside Baileys News on Saturday 14th July with the Olympic Torch, posing for photos and the support was incredible. So many people turned up to have their picture taken and, at the end of the day, over £420 had been put in the collection jar. Add this to the £300+ that was already donated during the campaign and it took the total to £785.00!

The full breakdown of money raised so far is as follows:

  • 3 Peaks Challenge – £10,219.23
  • Great South Run 2011 – £1,015.00
  • Olympic Torch Campaign – £785.00
  • General ‘In Memory Of Wayne’ Donations – £65.00
  • GRAND TOTAL – £12,084.23

Thank you to everybody who has supported us and donated so generously!

Great South Run 2012

Team Wayne have entered the Great South Run for the 2nd year running!

Damien, Carl and Kevin have all signed up for the 10 mile race around Portsmouth on Sunday 28th october 2012. Also signed up are Shaun Wilson (Wayne’s other brother) and Trevor Savoury (father of Baby Tyler Wayne). Please join us in welcoming Shaun and Trev to Team Wayne!

Team Wayne with the Olympic TorchLast year both Damien and Carl ran for Team Wayne, raising £1015 towards the Team Wayne total, with 100% of the money raised going to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Damien finished in 1:41:00 and Carl in 1:59:55. Both aim to beat their times form last year.

This year, Damien is going to run the whole race while carrying the Olympic Torch! The flame may have been put out, but Damien will be continue to proudly wave the torch (which is heavier than it looks, by the way). The rest of the team plan to run alongside him and will all take it in turns to carry the torch along the route.

Friends, family and Team Wayne supporters are encouraged to come and line the streets and cheer the boys on. There are also some JustGiving pages setup for sponsorship. We’ve setup 3 separate JustGiving pages, so the boys can have a bit of fun and see who can raise the most sponsorship (it’s all going in the same pot at the end)! You can donate online on the following links:

All of these pages are linked to the Team Wayne total. Remember, 100% of money raised goes to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, helping them to save lives.
